Boone

Boone is the dog people picture when they hear the word Golden: a rich gold coat, a big honest head, feathering that collects every burr on the property. He was born in our kitchen out of Swing, our second foundation girl, and he was the puppy who sat down in the middle of the evaluation room and waited to see what the stranger wanted. He is a registered therapy dog and spends two mornings a month at an elementary school, lying on a beanbag while first graders read to him. He has never been in a hurry in his life. At home he carries a stuffed duck from room to room and puts it down only to eat. He is five and already going white around the muzzle, the way his mother did, which only makes him look more like the old soul he has always been. Boone passes on his bone, his soft mouth and that unbothered temperament. If you are hoping for a therapy or facility prospect, his litters are the ones to watch.
